Riesling - The Grape Debate!
Join me (Rob) as I fight the corner for Chilean Riesling. This is one of our absolute favourite formats: welcome to the Great Riesling Grape Debate! Wine School owners Rob, Simon and Ruth will be competing head to head for your vote as they argue that their chosen region produces the best Riesling in the New World.
In the Clifton corner we have Ruth Wiles, waxing lyrical about South Australia’s Eden Valley; here Riesling is ultra-dry, with a steely edge and a fresh lime-filled flavour. Manchester’s resident Riesling expert, Simon Woods will be waving the Stars and Stripes for Riesling from Washington State. The Pacific North West gifts us Riesling which is a touch softer, with more juicy stone fruit and a delicate floral edge. Going in to battle from Birmingham Wine School is Rob he will be celebrating Chile’s Leyda Valley as the new kid on the Riesling block. Here we’ll be enjoying a stunning single vineyard wine with depth, flinty mineral notes and a smoky petrolic edge.
Grape Debate is a brilliant format where you can enjoy the passion and knowledge of multiple wine school owners in a fun and interactive format. Come and discover a different side to Riesling as you learn about it in the New World.
