South Africa and USA
South Africa is one of the newest, fastest-growing entrants onto our supermarket and off-licence shelves. It has experienced a meteoric improvement in quality in the last five years, as well as an explosion of new winemakers, wineries, and range of wine styles. We shall look at some of the leading winemakers from South Africa and contrast international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah/Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc with the indigenous grape varieties that South Africa has made her own - the delicious Pinotage and Chenin Blanc. You will experience some amazing wines that will change your view of this country’s wine forever.
California has an enormous diversity of climate from the cool coastal regions making great Pinot Noir, and stunning Cab Sav, to the warmer inland vineyards which specialise in some amazing Zinfandels.
